How to Join

The California Society of Municipal Analysts (CSMA) was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit organization for the purpose of encouraging the professional development of its members through discussions, meetings, and presentations of issues relevant to municipal credit analysis. The CSMA is the California affiliate of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA). The CSMA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc. However, Regular Members must devote at least 25% of their time to municipal analysis, the supervision of municipal analysts, or be responsible for managing a portfolio of municipal securities. In addition, they must either reside in California or spend a significant amount of time devoted to the analysis of California municipal securities, managing a portfolio of California municipal securities, or supervising individuals so devoted. Regular Members are automatically granted membership in the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA). Affiliate members are members of another constituent society of the NFMA. Associate members are individuals not meeting the requirements for Regular or Affiliate membership but whose membership is determined by the CSMA Board to be beneficial to the Society and its members based upon their demonstrated interest in municipal analysis. Associate members are not automatically granted membership in the NFMA. Individuals, not firms, are CSMA members.
